Death In Texas are a 3-piece progressive pop band, from London, UK.
Fusing epic classically inspired piano, a pounding rock rhythm section, soaring vocal melodies and progressive-leaning song structures, Death In Texas explores the darker side of pop and the grandiose side of rock.

Though the band confess to drawing upon a myriad of different genres when writing their material, certain bands have had an undeniable influence on their sound and direction including another epic trio, Muse, instrumental prog rock band Mogwai, and post metallers Tool. They’re also inspired by classical music, and their united love for the Fantasy film genre with its sweeping sound-tracks.

Death In Texas are currently busy writing and recording new material to be released in 2012, and are regulars in the live scene in London.

This explosive trio consists of Ruth (piano & lead vocals), Kane (drums & vocals) and Terry (bass).
Ruth and Kane Power moved to London in 2010 with the sole purpose to establish a band with technical chops, which is easy on the ear. What they developed was a blend of Ruth’s classical piano training, and Kane’s hardcore punk and metal background.
Terry Blake was a later addition to the band but no less integral. Terry, formerly known from Southend-On-Sea metal outfit ‘Between The Screams’, brings a solid background in metal and prog rock to complete the lineup.
And there is no guitarist here - something the band pride themselves on as it sets them apart from other bands in the genre, challenging them to create atmosphere and depth in different and exciting ways.

In 2011 DIT independently recorded and released a four track EP ‘We Will Implode’. They have played most London venues of note in less than one year of performing together, and shared the stage with quality acts including Marcella and the Forget Me Nots, Birdeatsbaby and Flash Bang Band.

They will be gigging around the UK major centers throughout 2012 including supporting progressive 14-string guitarist extraordinaire Felix Martin from Venezuela in July.

Here’s what others have said about Death In Texas :
“Theatrical piano-filled, gal-fronted alt.rock, with a Vaudevillian feel.” - Bar-Fly

“A progressive pop outfit who seem intent on making the biggest sounding music possible, Death in Texas are what My Bloody Valentine if they were raised on a diet of King Crimson and Latin pop.” - The Comedy

“Progressive pop is a very accurate description. This is far more clever and interesting than pop music generally is. I can’t think of anything similar. Imagine Phantom of the Opera, but written by Lana Del Rey and not Andrew Lloyd-Webber.” - Mgthb Blog
